The SC/ST Cell, a statutory body has been constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Management (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) in the erstwhile Regional Engineering College (REC) Warangal to safeguard the interests of the SC/ST students and employees of the Institute as per the instructions of MHRD, GOI from time to time.

The Cell Functions:

• As a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST students and employees and renders them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
   
• It functions to promote higher education among the SC/ST or weaker communities that are suffering from economic, social and educational deprivations.
   
• It continuously monitors and evaluates the reservation policies and other programs intended for SC/STs by the GOI for their effective implementation at NIT Warangal.
   
• It suggests the follow-up measures to the administration of the Institute for achieving the objectives and targets laid down by MHRD, GOI for the empowerment of SC/STs.

PROGRAMS ORGANIZED BY SC/ST CELL THROUGH SC/ST SUBPLAN:

• Organized Guest Lectures on Ambedkar and his vision for Dalit education through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI for the SC/ST students and employees of NITW on 06-12-2014 on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
   
• GATE-2015 coaching classes for the final SC/ST B.Tech & PG Students of NIT Warangal during 08-12-2014 to 31-01-2015 through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI.
   
• Campus Placement Training Program for the SC/ST students of final year B.Tech, M.Tech and other PG Students of NIT Warangal during Nov-Dec,2014 and Jan-March, 2015through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI
   
• Organized Guest lectures on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and His Contribution to the Nation through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI for the SC/ST students and employees of NITW on 14-04-2015 on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. BR. Ambedkar.
   
• GATE-2015 Coaching Classes by SC/ST Cell, NITW from 8th December,2014 through SC/ST Subplan, NIT Warangal
   
• Communication Skill Development Classes by SC/ST Cell, NITW for the first year students of UG, PG & Ph.D from 24th November, 2014 through SC/ST Subplan, NIT Warangal.
   
• Guest Lectures on ‘Ambedkar and his Vision for Dalit Education’ by SC/ST Cell, NITW on 06-12-2014 through SC/ST Subplan, NIT Warangal
   
• Organized an inspiration lecture on EXCELLENCE AND BETTER PERFORMANCE by Mr. Naresh Dubbudu, IIM Bangalore and Stanford University, USA, a 2004 alumnus and Gold medalist of NIT Warangal on 7th November, 2014 for all the SC/ST and other Students of NIT Warangal- Most of the Students got realized from the Lecture to rededicate for the cause of joining in NIT Warangal.
   
• Proposed Dr. B.R. AMBEDKAR LEARNING CENTRE with all the sophisticated amenities for organizing various SC/ST related academic and extra academic programs through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI – The proposal was approved by the BOG and the preliminary estimates are to be placed before BWC for approval.
   
• Conducted CAMPUS PLACEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM (CPTP) for the final year B.Tech, M.Tech and other PG Students of NIT Warangal during 02-15 December, 2013 through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI – The percentage of SC/ST students placed into public and private sector units got improved.
   
• Conducted GATE-2014 coaching classes for the final B.Tech SC/ST and other Students of NIT Warangal during 02-12-2013 to 31-01-2014 through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI- Quite a good number of the students secured better ranks.
   
• Conducted a two day workshop on RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND SCHOLARLY WRITING SKILLS (RMSWS) for the SC/ST and other research scholars of NIT Warangal through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI – There was an overwhelming response from the participants and everybody has derived maximum benefit out of the workshop.
   
• Conducted SOFT SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAM for the non-teaching staff of the Institute 10-12-2013 to 21-02-2014 through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI – The program could impart reading and writing skills to all the non-teaching staff of the Institute.
   
• conducted Guest Lectures on Dr. B.R. AMBEDKAR’S THOUGHTS AND THEIR RELEVANCE IN THE PRESENT DAY CONTEXT on 14-04-2014 for all the SC/ST Students and staff of NIT Warangal through SC/ST Sub plan, MHRD, GOI- The program could provide minute details of Ambedkar’s thoughts embedded in Indian constitution for the upliftment of weaker sections to all the audience of the program.
